Details
Hakuba Goryu and Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park are combined resorts located centrally in the Hakuba Valley. The most popular resort in the Hakuba Valley and the second largest resort in the valley, Goryu and 47 offer a diverse variety of powder runs, terrain, parks, courses, and almost 1000 metres of vertical skiing.
This world class resort is easily accessed from the
Goryu village and caters to all visitors on and off the slopes. For beginners, Goryu 47 has two spacious, beginner areas conveniently located in front of the Iimori and Goryu base centres. A top to bottom 6400 metro beginner’s trail awaits you on the 47 side once you’re feeling a bit more adventurous.
Goryu 47 prides itself with It’s groomed piste skiing and for the intermediate skiers, you will find the open groomed runs the perfect place to push your limits or to work on your carving techniques on the steeper slopes with confidence. The advanced skiers and boarders will enjoy the black and double black courses available at Goryu and 47. The Champion course is the steepest piste in the valley at 35 degrees and it’s moguls will challenge even the toughest of skiers. The adventure course also offers a great way to return from the 47 side to the Goryu side of the resort and is a fabulous place to experience powder skiing after a big snowfall. For the aerial and trick inclined, you will find plenty of jumps, rails and boxes spread out over the mountain.
The 47 side has an excellent terrain park area which features a 100 metre half pipe and several big air jumps and kickers. The park also features plenty of smaller jumps along well as rails, boxes and table tops. The resort combines two different faces of the mountain which means there are plenty of different styles of runs to suit everyone. Getting around the resort is made easy with the two large 8 seater Gondolas and the connecting chairlifts. Take the Goryu Gondola to the top and choose which side of the mountain you want to do next. If you find yourself on the other side of the mountain and you don’t want to ski back, the resort also runs a shuttle bus between the three base areas; Escal Plaza (Goryu), Iimori and Hakuba 47.
Kids are also well catered for at Goryu and 47. Kids from the ages of 6 can take part in half day or full day ski lessons. These are great if the parents want to head up the mountain and leave the kids in supervised care. For the younger kids that aren’t quite ready to ski, there are several day care centres located on the mountain where you can leave them for the day. There are also separate kids and family areas located at all the base centres. They are a great place for the kids to practise their skiing or just have a big family snowball fight.
The Base Centre at Goryu, Escal Plaza, is a state of the art facility with everything you will require inclusive of ski rentals shops, tuning centres, restaurants, rest areas, gift shops, ticket office, Information desk and even a large public bath (onsen). The two other base centres also have similar amenities and are great places to start and end your day or just slide into for lunch. Further up on the mountain there are ski-in restaurants and bars located at the gondola houses that make for a fantastic drop in facility to rest and re energise. The resort really caters for all skiers and snowboarders and is a must do while staying in Hakuba!
